T.N.Biskitz is the solo project of artist, illustrator and songsmith Mat Cross.Recorded and produced at home, Jolly Pessimistic is a ten-track collection of wonky pop, brass, double bass and assorted sounds, made in the spirit of a band but created entirely by one person in a cupboard.Wanting the variety and character of a Beatles album, the record was approached as if it were being written for a virtual band, attempting to channel the different personalities and songwriting sensibilities of its imaginary members. The result is a varied collection of whimsical, reflective and politically charged songs, alongside lighter tales of love and surreal storytelling.Jolly Pessimistic is accompanied by an illustrated flip-book lyric book, coming soon, and a series of handmade music videos, completing a project that sits somewhere between an album, an illustration project and a particularly ill-advised attempt to start a band on your own.
